Dr. Avi Katz
Dr. Avi Katz, Founder, Chairman and CEO of GigCapital Global, has built a career spanning nearly 40 years across naval service, frontier research, entrepreneurship, and public markets. He began at AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1988, spending six years at the forefront of applied science before moving into executive roles across high-tech private and public companies. In 2007 he founded GigOptix, a fabless semiconductor company, took it public on the NYSE in 2011 (NYSE: GIG), and grew it through ten strategic acquisitions before selling it in 2017 for $250 million to Integrated Device Technology — a company later acquired by Renesas for $6.7 billion.
Following that exit, Dr. Katz launched GigCapital Global, a Private-to-Public Equity platform using the SPAC methodology and his proprietary Mentor-Investor™ approach to bring high-potential late-stage companies to public markets. He has since deployed nine vehicles on Nasdaq and NYSE, attracting over $7.5 billion through IPO, deSPAC, and follow-on funding. He currently serves as CEO and Executive Chairman of GigCapital7 (Nasdaq: GIG), GigCapital8 (Nasdaq: GIW), GigCapital9 (Nasdaq: GIX), and Executive Chairman of Hadron Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: HDRN).
Dr. Katz is a graduate of the Israeli Naval Academy and holds both a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Technion, the Israeli Institute of Technology. He has authored more than 350 scientific and technical works, holds over 70 U.S. and international patents, and serves on the board of the New York Philharmonic.
Dr. Raluca Dinu
Dr. Raluca Dinu is a visionary and global business executive, offering 20 years of achievements in the high-tech industry (semiconductors, electronics, media, cloud data management, and information technology), with an established track record of driving increased revenue and profitability, building and leading cross-functional teams, delivering strong results in turnaround situations, and leading strategic growth and consolidation in fast-paced business environments.
Dr. Raluca Dinu held a General Manager / Vice President position at Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDTI), which was acquired by Renesas Electronics Corp (TSE 6723:JP) for $6.7B. Raluca drove the transfer and integration of the team from GigPeak, Inc. (NYSE GIG) into IDT, post-acquisition of GigPeak by IDT in April 2017. Prior to this, she was Chief Operations Officer of GigPeak, leading 10 M&As prior to the acquisition by IDT.
Dr. Raluca Dinu is Chairing the Compliance Committee as part of the Board of Directors of UpHealth, Inc., a digital healthcare company (NYSE: UPH), and she is also a member of the Audit and Compensation Committees. Additionally, she is part of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of BigBear.ai (NYSE: BBAI), a company that operationalizes artificial intelligence and machine learning at scale through its end-to-end data analytics platform.
Raluca holds a B.Sc. in Physics from 1997, a Ph.D. in Solid State Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Bucharest in 2000, and an Executive-MBA from Stanford University in 2007. She has an Audit Committee Certificate and Compensation Committee Certificate from Harvard Business School, Executive Education Program, in 2021.
James S. Greene
Since 1980, Jim has been serving the global financial services industry. 21 of those years with Accenture where he was instrumental in creating and leading their global financial services business. The last 20 years spread between being CEO of a technology start-up, global head of Financial Services for Cap Gemini, global head of Financial Services Consulting for Cisco and as a Managing Partner of a private equity fund focused on creating and incubating enterprise class analytics software companies. He has worked with over 75 start-ups in the last 10 years ranging from fintech, payment tech, big data, platforms, to name a few.
He is Founder and Managing Director of Sky D Ventures. A venture fund and advisory services firm. They focus primarily in seed rounds in fintech, emerging technologies, commerce platforms, to name a few. In addition, they provide advisory services to incumbents and disrupters alike in financial services, to private equity and VC’s in FinTech and to technology companies serving the financial services industry.
Jim’s industry tenure has been primarily focused on serving global financial services clients. His functional expertise spans consumer, wealth management, commercial, financial markets, mortgage, payments and business models. His geographic experience is balanced across North America, EU, Asia and Emerging Markets. Jim’s work with clients covers large-scale solution development and implementation, business and technology strategy development, and new venture creation and operation. He has an abundance of experience in creating and scaling strategic partnerships and ecosystems. Jim is a well-recognized thought leader on several topics. He regularly hosts and moderates small to large executive conferences and visits to the Silicon Valley. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on the topics of Enabling Commerce and New Models for Profitable Growth in Global Financial Services. He also serves on the Boards of both public and private companies.
Luis Machuca
Independent Board Member. Luis Machuca’s leadership roles span healthcare services, technology-enabled healthcare and population health management software. Machuca is a turnaround expert, former CEO of emerging growth companies and a company founder. He served as President and CEO of Enli and in senior leadership roles at Intel Corporation, as Executive Vice President of the NEC Computer Services Division of PB-NEC Corporation and as President and Chief Operating Officer of eFusion Corporation. He currently serves on the board of public and private companies, including Umpqua Bank (UMPQ) where he serves as Chairman of the Compensation Committee and Vice Chairman of the Finance and Capital Committee and as a member of the Umpqua Executive and Nominating and Governance Committees. Machuca also serves on the Board of Cambia Health Systems, a nonprofit health care company based in Portland, Ore., and a member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association operating six health plans across Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah, providing insurance to more than three million people. Among his other Board memberships are HCAP portfolio company, Saphyre, and he is an advisory board member of HCAP portfolio companies, Chordline Health and IronRod Health. Aside from his accomplishments as a leader, he has significant experience in governance, turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, finance, risk management and talent development.
